Chris Wise is an award-winning graphic designer and photographer living and working in Western Massachusetts. Now a Senior Product Designer at Bedford/St. Martin's, he is busy envisioning the future of college textbooks online. Previously, he worked worked for more than ten years at WGBH Interactive, teaming with designers, programmers, and editorial staff to create compelling, functional, and accessible web-based experiences for both local and national public television and radio productions. His work includes web sites, digital libraries, interactive illustrations, games, and classroom learning objects. He is responsible for all aspects of design, including initial concept development, user experience design, information architecture, visual design, and user testing. He has lectured and taught design at colleges and universities throughout the northeast.

After receiving his BFA in Graphic Design from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, he worked in the University's Communications Department until his third car was stolen, when he left Philadelphia once and for all. After several years running an independent design company in Boston, he was scooped up by WGBH, Boston's public media broadcaster and educational foundation. In 2011, he made the move to Bedford/St. Martin's, a division of Macmillan Publishing, which in addition to traditional textbooks, creates online learning tools for the higher education humanities market, including online courses, e-books, e-portfolios, assessment instruments, and learning management systems.
